Kaukauna, WI (August 9, 2014)  After a four-week break, the Eilen & Sons Motorsports Team loaded up the 77 machine and headed for Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI for the ARCA Midwest Tour Calypso Lemonade 100 lap event.

Practice started off great for Eilen and the team (although missing Crew Chief, Chad Wood, to illness) was pumped for qualifying. Unfortunately, the car “bottomed-out” while in turns one and two on both qualifying laps leaving Eilen with a thirteenth place qualifying time.

Eilen didn’t let the qualifying time get him down. He was determined to come back and show everyone he was a match for contention.  As he worked his way toward the front he kept his eyes to the front and hoped for a top-five finish.  With a lot of hard work, and some great restarts, Eilen finished the race in third.  “This is a great finish for us tonight.  I was pretty bummed about qualifying after having such good practice times, but it happens.” Stated Eilen after the race.

There isn’t much break for the 77 team as they will travel on Friday, August 15th to Norway, Michigan for the Norway 100 at Norway Speedway. Qualifying begins at 5pm for those of you making the trip up!

Cedar Rapids, IA (July 5, 2014)  It was a rainy Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa when the ARCA Midwest Tour teams showed up for the Coors Light Summer Showdown at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.  The rain threatened cancelling the show, but thankfully it began to let up around 2p.m.  By 3:30 p.m. personal vehicles were on the track to help the drying process.

After the lengthy rain delay ARCA Midwest Tour Officials decided to give teams a short twenty minute practice before qualifying.  Jonathan’s practice went well and he qualified in the fourth position for the feature event.

The stands filled up and racing action began only an hour late from its’ scheduled time.  Jonathan Eilen would find himself quickly moving to the third position and began to get comfortable there. He wasn’t about to wear out his tires too early in the race.

Not too long after, Jonathan noticed his car wasn’t handling as well as it had the first twenty-five laps. Unfortunately he would slip through the field, and without any cautions he was unable to make any changes or gain any ground. Eilen would end up in the eighth position at the end of the race.

“Man, it wasn’t exactly the night we had all hoped for.” Stated Eilen after the race. “The car just didn’t handle the same way it had here in the past. We’ll get ‘em next time though.”

Eilen, and the ARCA Midwest Tour, will have a four-week break before traveling to Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI on Saturday, August 9th. They will follow that race right away on Friday, August 16th at Norway Speedway in Norway, Michigan before making it back to Eilen’s home track, Elko Speedway, on Saturday, September 20th.  The season will conclude at LaCrosse Speedway for the annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend.

Wisconsin Dells, WI (June 28, 2014)  Jonathan and the Eilen & Sons Motorsports Team found themselves on the podium for a second week in a row. “We are all excited to have finally figured out the bugs and are finishing up here,” stated Eilen. “Now we just have to figure out how to get a win!”

Eilen qualified in the eighth position for the 100 lap feature on Saturday night.  After a fast-dash qualifying race, where he finished second, he would find himself starting on the outside of the second row for the feature race.

Racing got underway and Eilen found himself amongst the top four cars as they quickly divided into single file.  Eilen continued to work hard through the multiple cautions and was able to maintain in the top five.  As cars began to fade, Eilen began to shine.  Jonathan had made his way to third place and was working hard to catch the second place driver.

Unfortunately lap-traffic would play a factor in Jonathan’s mission to capitalize on second place and with no cautions the rest of the race, Eilen would happily settle for third.

“Two weeks in a row in third isn’t too bad” stated Eilen in a post-race interview. “Now we just have to figure out how to get around Majeski (who finished second the last two races).”

Another very short break for the ARCA Midwest Tour drivers as they head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, July 5 for the Coors Light Summer Shootout at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.  Qualifying will begin at 4:00 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m.  There will also be a concert and fireworks after the races!
