TOUGH START TO 2014 SEASON

Hampton, MN (May 5, 2014)  The Eilen & Sons Motorsports Team hasn’t had much luck on their side so far as the 2014 ARCA Midwest Tour season gets underway.  Jonathan and his team traveled to Toledo, Ohio for the season opener at Toledo Speedway on April 12th.  The team would qualify into the race, but were unable to scratch their way into a top ten finish.  “It’s the first race of the year and we are still learning from the changes we made after the last race in October,” stated Eilen. “We aren’t letting it get to us right now (the finish), we are going to take what we learned this weekend and apply it to the next race in a couple weeks at Madison International Speedway.”  Eilen would finish in the 14th position.

It was a three week break between the first and second race and the Eilen & Sons Motorsports Team was ready to have a good weekend of racing.  Practice went really well on Saturday and the team felt confident with their car for Sunday’s qualifying and the main event.  Unfortunately, Eilen would miss the top 16 in qualifying and was forced to race in the last chance race where he would later win to take his position on the ninth row-inside for the main event.  Jonathan’s car seemed “off” as he raced around the track. He hung around the middle of the pack for the first half of the race and avoided a few incidents.  As more cautions came out, Eilen wasn’t afraid to choose the outside line when it was time to choose, allowing him to move up positions as the inside was favored by many.  Adjustments were made at the mandatory break at lap 64, but it wasn’t quite enough.  Eilen would finish in the tenth position.

The next race will be on Saturday, May 17 at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI.  See you at the track!
