SATISFACTORY NIGHT FOR EILEN

Norway, MI (August  16, 2013)  It was another warm evening of racing for the ARCA Midwest Tour drivers as they took to the track for the DOC 360 100lap race at Norway Speedway in Norway, Michigan.

Jonathan started the evening with a tenth place qualifying run, putting him in the second row for the qualifying heat race where he would finish third.  “The car ran pretty well in the heat race, but we figured we would make a few small changes in hopes of making it better for the feature,” stated Eilen.

Unfortunately the changes didn’t help out Eilen in the main event.  The car was “a handful” as Eilen would say in a post-race interview.  “It was loose coming into the corners and we just couldn’t get the ‘bite’ that we wanted coming out,” said Jonathan.  It wasn’t the worst of nights for the 77 team.  Eilen would finish in the sixth position and end up moving up to fifth in the final ARCAMT point standings.

“Overall , it was a good points night for us” stated Eilen. “We only have three races left which is unfortunately not enough to catch the point leader, Dan Fredrickson, unless something crazy happens. A top five finish in the point standings would be satisfactory for us after the year we have been having with all of the up and down races.  No matter what happens…we will never give up.”

The next ARCA Midwest Tour race will be held on Saturday, August 31st at Marshfield Motor Speedway.  Along with racing, Eilen will also be celebrating his father, Tom’s, 60th birthday on Saturday and his own birthday on Sunday, September  1st! A victory would be the “topping on the cake!”
